How Youll Be Able To Watch A Star Is Born With Extra Footage In Theaters
Since being released in theaters last October, A Star is Born has one of the most talked-about movies of 2018, but as with all feature films, its run on the big screen has come to an end or so we thought. Starting this weekend, youll be able to catch an extended version of A Star is Born for one week across more than 1150 screens in North America.
Starting this Friday, March 1, Warner Bros will release the Encore cut of A Star is Born for just seven days in the United States and Canada. This new version is 12 minutes longer and contains extended performances of songs like Black Eyes, Alibi, and the impromptu cappella performance of Shallow from Lady Gagas Ally. Audiences will also be treated to never-before-seen footage of Ally singing Is That Alright? to Bradley Coopers Jack in the wedding sequence, Jack singing Too Far Gone in his studio, the duo writing a new song together called Clover and much more. Check your local listings to see if your theater of choice will carry the Encore version of A Star is Born.
With all the fanfare that A Star is Born has received, it makes sense that Warner Bros would want to give fans one last hurrah in theaters. Given how many songs are in the movie, one would imagine a sing-along version might have been enjoyable, but including extra footage provides extra incentive for people to head back to the theater. Plus, putting A Star is Born back on the big screen obviously adds a little extra cash to its coffers. Made off a budget between $36-40 million, the movie has made over $425 million worldwide, so itll be interesting to see how much more that amount increases from folks checking out the Encore cut over that week.
Besides making a pretty penny at the box office, A Star is Born has done incredibly well for itself on the critical front. Among its many accolades include earning five Golden Globe nominations and winning the Best Original Song Golden Globe for Shallow, which was written by Lady Gaga, Mark Ronson, Anthony Rossomando and Andrew Wyatt. This past weekend at the Academy Awards, A Star is Born was up for eight nominations, and once again, Shallow came out on top by winning the Best Original Song Oscar.
The fourth movie in 82 years to bear the title, A Star is Born follows Jack, an experienced and alcoholic musician, meeting Ally, a young singer, and as the two of them start collaborating on music, they fall in love with each other. The cast also includes Sam Elliott, Dave Chappelle, Andrew Dice Clay, Anthony Ramos, Rafi Gavron and Greg Grunberg. Bradley Cooper also directed and co-wrote the script with Eric Roth and Will Fetters.
